What is the work environment and culture like at the company? I was cashier and some supervisors is superior in their own way. The stressful in my part since I am very active and I am flexible in my time, they assign me everywhere and most hated is that I feel that they took advantage to those who don’t say a words. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Specifically Reston Town Center Location. ![]() The benefits is extremely competitive, and I am people oriented I experience the different people personality and they shared stories and I was there to listen and that makes them keep coming to the store, relationships is important to the customers. What is the best part of working at the company? So we are are under staffed and then if you are really unlucky you get someone on - more. Of course they're allowed to get away with it because turnover is so high. When we try to tell leadership about this, they just shrug because they didn't see it. Like one assistant manager who spends hours hiding in the break area doing scratch tickets. To be clear, we have employees, but are told that we have to "limit payroll based on the size of the store." Most of my coworkers do their best, but there are a few that do almost nothing. We are told to shut down the customer service desk or just tell people that the Western Union is "down" because we can't schedule 2 people to close at 11 pm. Working nights I can go an entire hour without seeing any other employees in the building. Like the pizza cook is supposed to also run the deli sometimes. Most everyone who works there is nice, but they are just stretched way too thin. So there are some grumpy people when they get slow, poor service and still pay a lot. The customers still pay higher prices but don't get the level of service that Harris Teeter used to be known for. For example, almost never have enough people to bag groceries and offer to help customers to their vehicles, or provide any assistance to customers beyond just quickly scanning groceries. We are almost never staffed on the front end to actually provide the high service that is expected at Harris Teeter. I started working at Harris Teeter because it was one of the nicer grocery stores so I thought that it might be a better place to work. If you can ignore the incompetence, mismanagement, and uncleanliness, the pay is decent and it's easy to get hours. somehow they are never noticed, so it isn't reflected in the food inspector scores. i felt ill just working there and seeing the food standards. there is no commercial dishwasher, so pans go unwashed for months with only the liner replaced. dirty mop water sitting around in the back at at all times. i also transferred between stores and the experience to transfer was just as confusing and slow. when i finally did, it also took weeks to get an answer on any issues, such as needing repairs or a simple request for accessibility (which got denied without a doctor's note after months of asking). i had to pester the store for weeks to finally get started even after my interview went well and confirmed. When i finally got hires, it was easy to get hours, easy to get hired fulltime, and the benefits were strong.
